The 25 NCAA Hunks of 2011

FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo (The Philippine Star)

A few issues ago, Funfare published the roster of The (32) UAAP Hotties of 2011 in time for the ongoing UAAP games. The list was prepared by Funfare’s “beauty experts” Felix Manuel, Gery Yumping, Joey Cezeare and Francis Calubaquib who have just completed a new “honor roll,” this time on the 25 NCAA Hunks of 2011, “Why 25?” asked Felix. “Because The STAR is celebrating its 25th (silver) anniversary on Thursday, July 28. It’s our way of saying ‘Hooray!’ to the country’s No. 1 broadsheet. The 25 were chosen from 40 ‘semi-finalists’.”

Felix noted that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) was established in 1924 with eight colleges and universities as members. The oldest athletics association in the country, it is not connected with the NCAA of the US. Theme of the current (87th) season, hosted by University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD), is Brazen @ 87, Many Motions, One Direction.
The present 10 member schools are: San Beda College (SBC), Jose Rizal University (JRU), Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL), Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT), San Sebastian College Recoletos (SSCR), Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), College of St. Benilde (CSB), Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) and Arellano University (AU).

According to Felix, each member represents a peculiar act — Altas lead, Knights conquer, Blazers explore, Bombers attack, Cardinals fly, Lions roar, Stags leap, Generals command, Chiefs rule.

Former NCAA Hunks include: Freddie Webb, Philip Cezar, Jimmy Santos, Bong Alvarez, Alvin Patrimonio, JC Tiuseco, Zanjoe Marudo, Rommel Adducul, Marco Alcaraz and Emmanuel Bhobby Mago (2007 Mr. World-Philippines).

(The “beauty experts” wish to thank the NCAA official website and Jan Dizon for the pictures, and 2011 Miss EAC Alyssa Esplana, daughter of 1990 Bb. Pilipinas-International Jennifer Pingree and former cager/now councilor Gerry Esplana, for providing statistical information. Alyssa is competing for the Miss NCAA crown and you can help her by voting at the NCAA official website.)
